EL JARDÍN SALVAJE
Guest Curator
1991

Fundacion “la Caixa”
Madrid, Spain

The Savage Garden brought together eleven artists from the East and West Coasts of the US to create site-specific installations at the Fundacion Caja de Pensiones' exhibitions hall in Madrid. Judith Barry, Barbara Bloom, Jessica Diamond, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Ann Hamilton, David Ireland, Mike Kelley, Christian Marclay, Charles Ray, Meyer Vaisman and Meg Webster each created brand-new works specifically for the foundation's galleries.

"El Jardín Salvaje was a type of sequel to El Arte y su Doble, in that it emphasized cutting-edge art from the US, but in this case all the work was installation-based, so I was suddenly commissioning new projects from artists whose work I greatly admired."
